Coliseum Renovation Brings Changes to Livestock Shows - Construction is on schedule according to State Fair Executive Director Cindy Hoye. But, with construction not set to be completed until 2014, livestock shows for the 2013 fair will undergo some major changes.

Sennett Farms Cattle Company/IBCA Scholarship - We are taking applications for the 2013 Sennett Farms Cattle Company - IBCA Scholarship.  The $500 scholarship is being made possible through the generous donation of Clark Sennett, owner of Sennett Farms Cattle Company in Waynetown, IN.

The scholarship is available to Indiana residents attending high school (seniors) and who plan to attend a two- or four-year college or university with a major in agriculture. Applicants must be from a family that is actively involved in beef production and current IBCA members.

Restaurant Chains Buy More Beef Despite Rising Prices - Despite rising prices, restaurant chains bought more beef in 2012 than in 2011, including premium cuts, according to a study by foodservice research firm Technomic Inc.

Beef Volume Sales In Foodservice Outpace Segment Growth - Despite escalating per-pound beef prices, volume sales in foodservice for beef in 2012 rose 1.8 percent, outpacing real sales growth for the entire channel (1.5 percent), the Beef Board reports

5th Annual Animal Sciences Research and Education Center (ASREC) Production Cattle Sale - Saturday, 6 April 2013, the Purdue University Beef Team and the Purdue Beef Research Unit is hosting their 5th Annual ASREC Production Cattle Sale starting at 1:00 p.m. The event will be a cow-calf sale as well as highlighting the research and extension activities that are being conducted at ASREC. Faculty conducting the research will be on hand to answer questions.
New IBCA and IBC Boards of Directors Ready to Begin Work for 2013 - New installed officers and directors, as well as committee persons, are ready to start work at the IBCA and IBC for 2013. Three new Area Directors were elected, as well.

IBCA Honors Industry's Best at the Awards Banquet - The IBCA honored the state's top cattlemen and women at their awards banquet on 10 February 2013 at Sullivan's Steakhouse in Indianapolis.

HBC Making Dreams Come True - Hoosier Beef Congress Charimen, Rick Seehase and Barry Wesner, presented the Make A Wish Foundation with a check for over $6,000.

AG Day was a Huge Success! - Many of our neighbors shared the story of agriculture "from tractor to truck" and how the quality food that we enjoy starts with the dedication of Indiana farmers. In the North Atrium of the Statehouse on March 5th, legislators began arriving for the presentations of the Ag Essay Contest winners at 11:45. All were so humble, yet proud of their accomplishments. During lunch, there were tradeshow booths lining the perimeter of the Atrium that offered additional information and opportunity for discussion. FFA state officers joined us for the day and Cameron Mann read the Governor's Proclamation declaring March as Ag Month in Indiana.

AG Day Invitation - The IBCA would like to invite you inside the State House! Experience the day enjoying local food, talking to the legislators about what you do, discussing your participation with the Statehouse Market, as well as engaging in conversation with people from all over Indiana.

26th Annual 2012 Hoosier Beef Congress -- down in the history books!Although this year was different from the previous 25 years, we are pleased to announce the 2012 Hoosier Beef Congress was a success! We would like to thank everyone who helped and participated to make this such a memorable weekend. The results can be found on HBC's website.
