Indiana's Inheritance Tax Update -- Indiana farmers applauded the passage of Senate Enrolled Act 293 which will phase-out Indiana's inheritance tax over a nine-year period beginning in 2013 and increases from $100,000 to $250,000 the amount that may be inherited by the decedent's children and their children's surviving spouses before the inheritance tax is assessed.

New IBCA & IBC Board of Directors Set to Begin Work for 2012 -- This year, the Indiana Beef Cattle Association (IBCA) held elections during the ten Area Beef Meetings to choose three new Area Directors.  These new Directors were elected to serve Indiana's beef producers on policy matters as well as represent their interests on the Beef Checkoff. Beef producers in Area 3 re-elected Andy Lowry of Owensville, producers in Area 7 re-elected Neal Smith of Pendleton, producers in Area 9 re-elected Joe Horstman of West Lafayette and producers in Area 10 elected Dr. Bruce Lamb, DVM, of Milford.
IBCA Honors Industry's Best at 2012 Awards Banquet -- The IBCA honored the state's top cattlemen and women at their awards banquet on Sunday evening, 26 February, in Plainfield. Beef producers from across the state attended to salute the men and women who provide the leadership for the Indiana beef industry.
